Help for Former Ann Arbor Family in Ukraine

Oksana, her husband, her middle school age son and elementary age daughter came to Ann Arbor in 2019 for Oksana’s Fulbright Scholarship. The family spent a year living in the Burns Park community - her son at Tappan Middle School (also a Club Wolverine competitive swimmer), daughter at Burns Park Elementary School and Oksana at the University of Michigan as a visiting Fulbright Scholar.

 

The family returned to Ukraine in 2020, to the city of Kharkiv. Today they are faced with unimaginable tragedy. The family is spending their days and nights hiding in an underground shelter - with the horrors of war just above them.

 

This campaign is an effort to remove one small

barrier by giving financial support. The time will come when Oksana and her family can travel to Poland where they can then take flights to safety. Their domestic travel will be expensive and complicated as all public transportation in Ukraine is not possible. Obtaining flights out of Poland will also be costly.
